Start with arrivals and departures
A front-desk handover should explain what the next team needs to act on. Which guests are expected? Which rooms are occupied? Which departures are still outstanding? A list of events without their current status can leave the next receptionist guessing.
Virtuo for Hospitality brings reservations, rooms and guest activity into an operational workspace. These records help staff review the property’s position before a busy part of the day.

Keep room availability separate from room readiness
A vacant room may still need housekeeping or maintenance. The front desk needs to know both whether a room is occupied and whether it can be assigned. Treating those as the same question can create an avoidable delay at check-in.
Include outstanding property-care work in the handover. The person receiving the shift should know which team is responsible and what needs confirming before a room is offered to a guest.
Leave a usable record
Write enough detail for someone else to continue the task. A note such as “check room” leaves too much unexplained. Identify the room, the issue and the next action.
At the end of a shift, review unresolved items rather than copying the entire day into another document. A good handover makes unfinished work visible and gives the incoming team a clear starting point.
